Well the Massachusetts roadway systems are some of the oldest in the country. Some are downright bizarre. For example, not even in Boston but Worcester MA, here is Kelley Square in a timelapse to give you an idea of the types of traffic patterns that will lead to more accidents than average.

from my experience not any more. US cars were cheap to maintain because the parts were generic and outdated. (SOHC I4 non turbo with no abs abs = cheap maintenence) but now everyone's going turbo and direct injection and that means precision parts, good oil/lubricants, power means tires wheels and brakes aka $$$$.
