Agreed. The sad thing is that even when/if we’ve fucked up to the point of no return, we could still die in relative comfort by voluntarily having a final generation of humans. But instead humanity will cling to life to the very end, having kids that won’t even live a decade before dying painfully.

The main difference is that the more humans we pack onto the planet, the more people will experience agony when everything falls apart.

The last several generations could well include more individual cases of rape, torture, starvation, and painful disease than all the human history that came before.

Sure, and I also have the benefit of not having kids. It’s still sad though - even once we ensure our own extinction, we’ll likely still have the capacity to give humanity a relatively comfortable exit. But we won’t - we’ll do even more horrible things to each other fighting for those final scraps of existence.

Who is more meek than the microscopic organisms who will inherit the planet?

I think the tragedy is that it won’t be a quick and painless death. I’m afraid the end of our species (along with countless others) is going to be an agonizing, drawn-out affair, with even more atrocities as things decline.

If North Korea decided to commit suicide-by-nuke, I don’t know that any countries would be willing to go down with them. I think China would rather continue to exist than “avenge” their neighbor’s self-inflicted destruction.

The fact that humanity will end doesn’t bother me (it was always inevitable). The fact that it’s going to be drawn-out and painful as the species clings to life makes me sad.

I wonder if Melancholia had a point about depressive people handling some stuff better. This makes me feel sad but not overwhelmed, and I think part of the reason is that I’ve thought about death (my own and humanity’s) at some point during almost every day of my adult life.

I think some wish they were born into the fictional version of Japan they’ve conjured in their minds, where anime is an accurate depiction of social norms and being an otaku is not only accepted, but celebrated by the average person.

Asians don’t have the “worst deal” in the US, but it is hard to imagine a non-Asian man ever thinking, “I wish I was Asian.” In fact, I would imagine that most non-Asian men are happy that they are not Asian.

The focus on criticizing AMWW seems unfortunate though, given that WMAW is more prevalent (onscreen and IRL), and Asian men seem *far* more dismissed as potential love interests in popular culture.

I assume because of the publicity it’s led to.

Millenniala are asexual because fashion covers are dominated by a type of woman you don’t find appealing?

Germanic?

Is bottom of the list more gore or less?

Of course. But you can indoctrinate their kids to be Christian, instead of the religion they would be raised in. If that actually saves them from infinite torture, doing so is a noble, even if you damn yourself in the process.

What makes something a “real” religion?

Also, I think Zeus/Jupiter definitely qualifies as a patriarchal god.

Certainly not brave. Though it is smart for him to avoid any authorities that might extradite him to the US, where he wouldn’t be entitled to a trial.

Could call this a return to form, then. Before you were growing up gaming was largely done at public arcades, and having an audience wasn’t uncommon.
