Yeah, not inherent or limited to religion. My point is just that while some beliefs are just misused as weapons by humans, the traditional doctrine of hell itself is malicious and evil.

I would go as far as to say that the traditional idea of hell as a place of purely retributive torture is evil. The idea that *any* human (let alone your average sinner) deserves unending torment is monstrous and unjust.

Religion itself isn’t brainwashing, but I think the notion of infinitely torturing non-believers was crafted for the express purpose of brainwashing.

One area where it gets really tricky in my mind is people who believe in hell and attempt use it to scare their children into obedience.

I don’t understand spousal support for rich people. It should be based on either financial need or plausible lost income due to reduced working as a (semi-)stay-at-home partner. Not how much luxury your sugar-parent lavished on you.

Spousal support is a separate thing from child support. The ex-spouse does not have to spend the money on anything except themselves.

I thought most people agreed that incompatible sexual orientation was a solid dealbreaker, unless both partners are completely on board with having a sexless, companion marriage.

I really wish people would stop whining about members of the opposite sex having physical preferences. I’ve heard the same thing from straight women, complaining about men choosing ugly skinny women over pretty, curvy (or fat) women.
