I don’t know much about Hollywood, but I have to imagine that announcing a new movie to be released next year without deals in place for the cast means that everyone’s price automatically goes up 20%. Seriously, is anyone on that cast hurting for work right now?

That’s probably true, but fifteen years ago, I would’ve scoffed at the idea that every c- and d-level Marvel superhero would star in AAA films that make hundreds of millions of dollars almost by default.

They really need to do something other than space battle and belligerent Klingulans. Like maybe some brain headed aliens. Or a planet with multiple disparate cultures (Roman, Western, Nazi, Gangster, etc) which turns out to be an amusement park run by a computer that Kirk must logic rant into destroying itself.
