This is the sort of car where, unless you own a company that rents out period automobiles to film production studios, I can’t possibly see how you’d be interested in actually buying it.

Why are you using the gender neutral possessive pronoun “their” here:

I hate it when musicians think they can be actors.

Right... I mean... I don’t imagine that wrecking on a moped is any safer than a wreck in one of these.

Meh... I’d respect him more if he drove a CT4-V blackwing MT.

They would be wise to hire me on as CFO... truly.

Or Ford without the Mustang.

The Miata has put on about 300 lbs since its inception but it is still a super lightweight car by today’s standards. And the current model does 0 - 60 in under six seconds. That makes it a speedy car by any reasonable metric. Not supercar fast, but waaaaay faster than the original.

I don’t see why whe can’t have a category for cars that are only allowed to travel on roads with 45 MPH and lower speed limits. That would likely cover most use cases for these mini cars, and not strand them in one particular urban location (which I think is what a 35 MPH maximum would do).

I’ve never actually seen one except at my local Cars and Coffee... and what’s sad is I’ve seen more Lotus Emiras at that same Cars and Coffee (and in the wild for that matter) than Nissan Z’s.

Also the Lotus Emira. But these cars really aren’t within reach of the average consumer. You’re realistically looking at $80k out the door minimum.

I want to agree with you, but if you adjust for inflation, a base model Miata in 1989 would have been priced at $35,000 in today’s currency. That’s more than the $30,170 of the current base model. If any thing the car has gotten cheaper in real dollars.

Heck, Mazda should just follow in Ford’s footsteps and call its next electric SUV the Miata MazdaSpeed E.”

That would be the Ford Mustang convertible edition. Even comes with back seats.

I’ve got a ‘92 MR2 turbo. I also recently added an infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and a backup camera. The only thing that buying  a newer car would get me is some peace of mind knowing that if it breaks down I’ll be able to source the needed replacement part. And on a Miata that’s a non issue. I 100%

If Mazda drops the Miata they become just another automaker. The Miata is a halo like unlike any other. If Nissan can afford to sell the “Z” with only minor modifications for 100 years, then Mazda can do the same... heck, it needs to do the same. So much of the brand’s goodwill is tied up in that one car. And let’s

The new Z may be little more than a re-skin of the 370, but it’s a cool re-skin, and at $10,000 less than a Supra, it should have been a hit. Problem is, once greedy dealers got to work on the markups, it was no longer cheaper than a Supra, and at that point there was literally zero reason to buy one. Dealers are

Please... let’s stop pretending that any $300,000 car “justifies its price.” Let’s stop running YouTube videos about “why this Rolls Royce is worth $500,000.” Let’s not insult anyone’s intelligence by suggesting that there is some sort of “value” in a million dollar Bugatti or Lamborghini.

That’s the breathing room I’m talking about. You miss a crucial point of my post: tariffs can give us temporary breathing room to modernize our industry so we’re able to compete. But if we think we can impose tariffs and be done with it, living in an ICE country where the rest of the world is EV then we’ve condemned

It’s crazy. I googled “median price of new car” and can’t find any results. All the results are about the average. Why is it so hard to find data on what the median price of a new car is? That’s a lot more useful metric than the average, IMHO, when talking about how much normal people are spending on their cars.
