I agree with all your points. However, many (most?) people won’t adopt not because it’s expensive, but because it’s risky, and they prefer a biological bond. I think that’s a perfectly valid (selfish, of course, like almost everything we do) choice.

No matter what you do re: reproduction, people will think you’re doing it wrong somehow, so I say fuck ‘em and do what you want.
Hugh Hefner? A creepy old fuck?
Yeah, let’s make the poor take IQ tests before administering forced steriliza—heeeey, wait a minute...
*pulls off their masks, revealing eugenicists Francis Dalton and Karl Pearson, who shrug innocently at the camera*
Such an excellent point. Most Americans don’t realize that EasyJet is barely a step up from RyanAir, which is basically a cattle car in airplane form.
“I’m proud of my curves, which is why I wanted to diminish them using this diet.”

there’s a reason the US never ratified that convention.
The thing I’m finding sad on top of everything is that a large number of people here and on the guardian article seem not to be able to have any empathy for her; as if feeling bad for her life somehow negates feeling worse for the woman she murdered.
Thank you for writing this. My father did something horrible and was jailed 2 years. He came out a completely different person. The only time I felt he was happy afterwards, is when he would receive phone calls from current immates, and he could “counsel” them. Two years out and he did the same thing agin, and was…
Good for you. Enjoy that bed of self righteousness with the Duggards, Santorum and the like.
