This is so wise!! My husband and I bought a house (slightly more than our rent) & moved to the burbs & bought our first car--all in the same month we found out I was pregnant. So we haven’t done this, but now that things are settling down I think I should

Hey - don’t let this get you down. Just run some budgets and see where things shake out. Daycare is expensive, but we’ve found ways to make it work. When we bought our house, we couldn’t afford a kid but then we were able to move some things around, change some stuff, change a job and were able to do it.

I’m living for this convo, and I wasn’t even there. Keep going... What was their response???

Exactly. Having a kid (and paying for childcare because our health insurance is through my job and we still need my husband’s income,so we both need to work) would take us from “Earning enough to own a small home, put money away for the future, and go on a carefully-budgeted vacation every year” to living basically

Some works of film or literature are so obviously exceptional that they are called “instant classics”; we need a similar term to apply to pissing contest entries.

There are two kinds of people in the world...

Oh shit. Your neighbor was the tooth fairy!

yup. the ptsd triggers part mad eme laugh. I am 100000% for women who feel uncomfortable in the work place for valid reasons, and this may not be the whole story, so I don’t want to say she sucks, but if this is the only incident, or this is how it usually plays out, this woman strikes me as the mom at the PTA who

I feel no pity for this woman. Not once in the chat log was there anything alluding to rape, just the song. The rape portion of the song wasn’t even what they were joking about. The guy apologized MULTIPLE times, and yet she still felt the need to email Tim Cook (who by the way won’t read this petty crap anyways

So the guy apologizes multiple times for the joke and she keeps escalating it? I wouldn’t make a joke like that at work because it isn’t appropriate, but if someone apologizes while stating they will not do it again; it should be over right then. No need to escalate it right to the CEO without going through your

But Parker himself didn’t say stop so, by his own logic, not only should the journalist kept going, he should have invited two other journalists into the room to keep asking the same question.

I have been on a Scientology book reading kick lately, and would kill to read one by Katie. I’m in the middle of Jenna Miscavige-Hill’s book on leaving Scientology, and it’s fascinating. Leah Remini’s was really good, and Going Clear scared the shit out of me.

Bill Cosby was well known for his sweaters.

Setting each season in its own decade is an awesome idea.

Yeah, anybody can block anybody on Twitter. If the first I hear of you as a person is you up in my @s yelling at me about something (at the same time that THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE ALSO YELLING AT ME IN MY @S) I would feel no compunction blocking you, and fuck anyone who tells me I am obligated to patiently let

Do you want to talk to me about how Coconut Aminos is totally not the same as soy sauce? Or is that conversation too depressing for words?

YOU GUYS! Barely doing your work is making me really sad. There will be such a void in my life if you go away. I’ve been barely doing my work for weeks, though, and I don’t even have a good excuse. Maybe this is a sign. I should get back to work.
