Man, I wish the writing this season was as exciting as previous seasons. It feels like we had half stories, but no conflicts or any real plot. We had set ups but no payoffs.

It has become normal.

It takes away from the momentum though. And feeds all kind of rumour mills. If nothing else it underscores how lucky we were in earlier years when we got 48 episodes a year.

I am disappointed. The gap years do not do the brand any favours.

Spike is clearly JEWISH not Asian which is something a lot of people have overlooked. I’m pretty sure Jet Black is supposed to be biracial black/white. Faye of course is Chinese. The entire show is set in a diverse universe - as long as there’s diversity in the casting it should be ok.

I just wish Flash would lean into it as much as Legends. Like have Barry screw up the timeline so he ends up in a Glee club or Joe is a detective in New York and do a whole Quantum Leap thing for a while that is just fun. Put up a billboard somewhere that says, “Dammit, Barry!”  Give up on trying to take itself serious…

It’s probably not going to be as good as the animated series, but get the music, pace, and especially the tone right and it could be good. This show gets infinitely better when they lean in to the campy weirdness that their premise makes possible. It’s even better with the addition of Constantine as a show regular. The D.C. bureaucracy story just needs to die already tho. 

I always thought that Section 31 was a bit of a lazy cludge that would not have flown if Roddenberry were still around.
