To be fair, I know next to nothing about the scene in question. I feel sensitivity to the subject is due, but art is art, and things can be done right.

Yes, and they bloody well don't need to have salt rubbed in the wound constantly. The dead at least have some peace.

Just read about that Holocaust game, I imagine there'd be a hell of a lot more friction if it was played from the German perspective.

Murder victims, by definition, don't have to relive their awful experience over and over every time it gets brought up.

The key thing is that, by definition, most people who've had their guts splattered on a wall with a shotgun don't have to relive the experience when something recalls the painful memory.

How about that, I had no idea. I never found any other PC games that did it, but good on the Playstation!

You know what else was badass about Tribes? You could pop the disc into any CD player and listen to some sweet techno.

I really love how this game had more of a focus on animals in the Blade Runner world, how rare and valuable real animals were. In all it felt like it had a bit more influence from the novel than the movie did. If only the game let us walk the mountain with/as Wilbur Mercer.

Yeah, you're right. It seems like they're finally getting the hint now. And that's always something, positive change is still better late than never. They'll have to live with the ordeal, and their credibility has certainly taken a hit from it. Hopefully it's a lesson learned.

One thing to consider, is how PA pretty much made themselves by being offensive and a bit vulgar. I can imagine, from their perspective, that it might have been harder to see where to draw the line.

I think the main reason IW gets so much hate was because of the terrible ammo system. Your ammo one was just one large pool, firing off a rocket would cost as much as say 50 rounds of rifle ammo. One idea so bad that it tainted the rest of the game.

The first game I ever played that let me beat an enemy with their own severed limb!

Starsiege: Tribes (which is elsewhere on the list) beat em both to the punch on vehicles.

Battlezone 1 & 2

This game single-handedly and preemptively ruined Halo for me. All the way through Halo:CE I couldn't help but think how much cooler it would be if I had a jetpack. I guess Halo finally has jetpacks now, but I gave up so long ago.

This game had some great fourth wall breaking stuff too. You were told that you were inhabiting the bodies of real people, in a real world, through your computer. I remember one villain ignoring the character, and turning to the camera, to threaten the player behind the screen.

Well here's some good news for ya, the entire Goblins series is available as a package on GoG.com for 6 bucks!

Dark Legions

Derrr, sorry, just put your video on, and of course it's got the same song running through it. Big ol' waste of space here.

Now playing

One of my all time favorite games. Some of the music is still pretty fantastic too.
