Valve has to have a ton of overhead with all the servers they run, the constant updates from security threats, the market, VR, the community, and countless other things that Epic store does not have. I find it crazy that it even has to be mentioned.

Absolutely. The gatekeeping is the main problem.

Yeah, it boils down to gatekeeping based off of some sort of personal pride in a game accomplishment, and taking that WAY too seriously.

Just going by that one tweet, he seems to be someone who thinks finishing difficult video games makes him a better person somehow. Take that away and what is he?

Fetusberry “Ass Bastard” Crunch (oh god I can’t believe I typed out that series of characters) is clearly an arrogant nitwit and I’m glad the Internet did its thing. The LA, SM64, and Sonic ones had me cracking up.

God knows Nvidia would love to some day make an anticipated game exclusive to their GPUs. They sure try doing it via GameWorks.

You really think Console War Bullshit started harming PC gamers with Destiny 2? Bless your heart. We just got Microsoft to stop fucking us over after Rise of the Tomb Raider, and only 94% of PC gamers are Microsoft customers.

This is the Kinja equivalent of Fake News.

Comparing this to debates about software distribution platform exclusivity feels like a forced analogy. Like, does this actually speak to the issues with Epic, Steam, Origin, Blizzard, GoG, UPlay, and other platforms?

Let’s be clear, as long as things like exclusive DLC and “time exclusives” have existed, PC players have been caught up in it too. In fact PC players tended to lose out most of all there. Chances are if something got a timed exclusive on either an xbox or a playstation, or if they each had their own bonus character

It is mainly the support service that is vital for us. Needing to pay the same amount of cash for possibly a worse experience just for the sake of exclusivity isnt the same as double clicking on a desktop icon.

Thoughts of self-harm and depression must always be taken seriously. It’s unsettling to me that my favorite pastime (playing video games for fun and to relax) can lead to such dangerous conditions for the top-tier players and the developers that create games.

Why do you care? Are you selling games? You sound like a “Epic bro” to me for defending Epic with something that vast majority of consumers care nothing about. Why do you guys never talk about how great the store itself is? Oh, wait, you can’t because it’s barely a storefront as it is.

Steam, Origin, Uplay, GOG Galaxy, EPIC...sometimes its not about allegiance, its simply about not wanting 9000 different fucking launchers when almost all the games you play are already on just one.

Add an easy mode and he won’t have to settle for watching someone else have fun, friendo. And the good news is that you don’t lose anything in the process either.

I just will never understand people that will defend this game not having an easy mode.

That *is* harsh though because you’re all but asking players with disabilities to go elsewhere. In this example, an easy mode or even a series of toggles that allow players to customize game experiences is about allowing them to participate in that experience. It’s inclusive, and not in the dime-store way that word is

The elitism in the audience surrounding any Sekiro/Souls/Bloodbourne/whatever review they don’t like is pretty shitty.
Like, we get it, you’re Teh H4rdc0re Pro Gamerman. We get it.  Just chill out for like, five minutes is all.  :/

If getting enough skill points to eventually unlock every ability means the skills you have before you have all of them don’t matter, you’re saying only the endgame matters, because the order in which you unlock skills is obviously going to have a big impact on the experience you’re having up to that point.

So the only thing that matters in a game is the endgame? Cool, why even have campaigns at all, then.
