I think everyone with a modicum of knowledge about ww2 aircraft development is aware of the Zero fighter’s later shortcomings. However in the early phase of the war it was indeed a superb fighter. The Allies had several advantages in all theatres of war.
Chat sucks. It began to suck around 1998 when we realized it’s a poor channel, and still sucks. I will never use chat. When I was corporate I didn’t use chat. 1) it’s an interruption and 2) it’s a struggle to end the conversation with some people.
Interesting! So no real benefit besides some sentimental value to trying to keep it all together as is...
Yes! 401 AMC V8 FTW! This is a project vehicle, not a show car numbers-matching restoration.
No, AMC never matched numbers from the factory, the engine tag has no serialization with the VIN. Interestingly, AMC tried to build them in sequential assembly order as operations allowed, which is a different number than the VIN, so the VIN numbers jumped around all over the place as cars came down the line. Plus AMC…
did AMC’s even have matching numbers from the factory?
I get the feeling. I’d just rebuild it after the other V8 you pick up. If you really, really care about that block, then rebuilding two and just swapping whenever convenient will be easier on your life than having yet another full on project car. Swapping completely rebuilt engines isn’t too bad. Sell the rebuilt V8…
Is numbers matching something that is really relevant on something like this? Trying to keep it THAT original?? I’ll feel the same way if I ever get to the point of having to rebuilt the motor in my cruiser.
They are having mandatory evacuations from the outer banks right now. If you live there, please take what is important to you and leave. As someone who was a first responder in the Keys last year after Irma (I am in the Navy), EVERY SINGLE RESIDENT I met in Marathon Key who stayed regretted not leaving and literally…
What’s with all the Corvette bashing here? It’s almost like you people don’t like cars or something. This thing looks great, even with the wacko camo. Looks like a Ferrari, you say? Yeah, well dolphins look like sharks, too...and they both look cool.
The Corvette V8s never get credit for how good they are due to a lack of technology. The block itself is bigger but the engines are lighter and smaller in overall size compared to the competition because of their simplicity. This car doesn’t need to cost another 100k just so it’s complex for the sake of being…
Ehh, given how everyone dismisses the Ford GT out of hand for having a V6, maybe they made the right call here.
What really gets me about those performance numbers is that these were rolling around on 1930's tire technology. Pretty scary.
Tom Cruise’s role in Collateral was one of the most underrated performances of the decade.
Woody Harrelson in Natural Born Killers. I’m not a fan of the film necessarily, it’s excessive and uneven. But this was one of his first post-Cheers gigs, and it’s a pretty hard about-face from “affable supporting sitcom doofus”. (For that matter, you can toss Rodney Dangerfield’s creepy as fuck cameo into the…
I’d throw in Matt Damon in The Departed. While he had played a bad guy in The Talented Mr. Ripley, by 2006 he was much more widely known for the heroic action star roles or Mr Nice Guy roles. And he played off both of those images in The Departed by being a terrible villain who went undercover as a heroic cop and a…
I worked at Chrysler from 2011-2014 and everyone I talked to who was working there prior to bankruptcy talked about how much better the work environment, handling of programs, and overall quality of employment was after Fiat took control. He did more good for that company than most people will ever realize.
He was definitely more fun, and enigmatic, than say Mary Barra.
Yes what a wonderful world we live in. For a huge OLD corporation like Chrysler to have the ability to make something as batshit crazy as the Hellcat really is a testament to him. RIP
