Oh yeh, and BTW, the T2 and T4 VW single and double cabs are not unibody. They have frames. The body on those is not a stressed member unlike the Bug, Ghia, T3, etc.

Somehow I responded to this and it’s not here so I’ll do it again. I stand corrected on the unibody, but the last two I really don’t consider trucks, they are crucks (car-based). The Avalanche and Ridgeline, I really don’t consider anything:).
I stand corrected on the unibody, except I would consider the bottom two more crucks like the El Camino\Ranchero, and I still struggle to consider the Avalanche and Ridgeline much of anything.
But is the SSR really a ‘pickup truck’ since it doesn’t have a bed and it’s unibody?
The difference with NASCAR is they have the rule that crew members can’t go over the wall until the car is in the pit stall, and that is for safety.
Is there a hi-res of this shot? I’d love it for my collection:)
Slightly off topic of handbrake turns, but I’ve communicated with Mr Buffum on several occasions while researching the restoration of an old SCCA and AlCan rally car (also a childhood hero of mine). He is a gracious and humble person that despite his fame in the rally circles, is tragically an unfamiliar name to many…
I replaced all the lubes in my 2001 2500 RAM with synthetics - engine oil, trans fluid, diffs, joints, etc. I happen to fall under several of those ‘recommended conditions’ since it has currently 298,000 on it, I tow regularly and I live in Maine. What is a nice side benefit beyond better protection is I saw a 2mpg…
Welding up an exhaust hanger on a 1984 Fiero, didn’t realize what I was welding to was the thin sheetmetal that really was the luggage compartment - HEAT +CARPET=NOT GOOD. I think it was the first time an ‘84 Fiero burned that wasn’t because of the Iron Duke.
Single-cab, full-sized American pickup from the late 90s-up. Not xcab. SINGLE CAB. Less room for multiple ‘go faster, go faster’ friends. Hard parts are far away from the head. Will win against most other passenger cars in the HS parking lot in an accident. Parts are cheap. Gas mileage is ‘eh’ so less joyriding around…
And while all this is going on, months later NHRA still hasn’t done a thing to keep from killing their TF drivers.
Before my current job (virtual office), I commuted 90 minutes to work one way because I chose to live in a rural area and the only tech jobs were in the southern part of the state (or ANY jobs that paid anything) while the housing costs were 400% higher where I worked compared to where I lived. My neighbor worked in…
Why is 120 miles one way unrealistic to you? Do you live in a major metro area? I know several people who commute 120 miles one way to work daily, that is life if you live outside of the major urban hubs.
So, how bad is the catch fence afterwards?
No sure why you picks this truck when you can get a full-sized, 4x4 with a Hemi for the same price? This might be a little better equipped for those who buy a truck because putting the groceries in a hatch isn’t hardcore enough, but for someone who buys a truck to actually USE it, the RAM is a better choice (and you…
If you think the leaning tower of power was junk, then I’m not the only one missing the point. And it’s all about IMAGE. You don’t by a Hyundai because of their history of badassery. You don’t get a Titan because they have decades of ‘built tough’ reputation (actually, no one buys a Titan so it doesn’t really matter…
The sweet spot for my truck (unladen) is right about 70, then I can knock down about 19mpg. Towing - enclosed 34’ - is right about 60 where I get 14mpg. 10 mph either side of that and it drops to single digits. On the high side, it’s too much drag I think, on the low side it spends too much time going in and out of…
They were a muscle car brand in the 60s and early 70s with the Charger, Super Bee, Challenger, etc but they also made the 4dr Dart Swinger with the leaning tower of power. Pontiac was a muscle car brand that also made station wagons, straight 6 powered 4dr sedans, likewise with Chevy and Ford. In the modern day, Dodge…
Drive per day is one thing. Going on a trip is another. I drive ZERO miles per day. But, I have to drive 58 miles to get to the closest almost small town to do shopping. If I want to go to more than one store, that means I have to travel about 5-6 miles within that town. Since it is such a hike to do this, then I try…
