I think it's unfortunate the Navy got rid of the S-3 prematurely when it's such a capable platform. Just as you mentioned Daniel, the Navy did something similar with the P-3.

Current P-3 pilot here and I will corroborate Mr. MacCabe's information. The crews that are searching will be using on-board radar and good old fashioned eyesight to spot any evidence of the missing aircraft.

A First World problem indeed. "I bought a six-figure private plane but I can't find a pilot to fly it for me."

My wife swears never to fly SW just for this reason. It would be a lot better if they started using assigned seats. We couldn't sit next to each other on the flight out to our own wedding.

Need a pilot? I have a few hours in a King Air and they are a pleasure to fly.

I just passed 50k miles on my '02 and it has been problem free!
