Some of us are a lot of fun!
Some of us are a lot of fun!
I do but I probably qualify as “an old” these days; plus my husband is a musician who throws pop quizzes about music and musicians at our kids like other parents do with multiplication tables.
You’re kidding, right? My youngest daughter has a neurometabolic disorder and is autistic. She has never been invited to a birthday party - she’s nine years old. We can’t even get her aunts, uncles, and cousins to attend her birthday parties. “Well, it’s not like she’ll remember if we miss this one time.” - every…
Yes - but people lie to get around it. We have a similar problem; 10 year old wants her own email address - we talk about it and set up guidelines together. But then gmail won't allow her to get an account because of her age. She wants us to lie so she can get one " 'cause everybody else does". So, do we lie to…
Actually, clothes patterned after the "Roaring Twenties" we're quite popular at the time - just before the '80's went all big hair, big shoulder pads and bright colors.
I remember having several dresses in similar "flapper-esque" styles including a pink one with a dropped waist and big lace lapels that I just loved.
They are married. :)
It's not nearly big enough, it takes up counter space; visual clutter.
Interesting. I would think you would prefer they go with an organization where their motives are clear whether their purpose is for serve others or for witnessing.
I'm suggesting that maybe your perspective, which is comes from one girl in your high school Spanish class, is a little skewed. Maybe the trip was poorly planned or maybe, being in high school, she didn't explain it well.
And I was replying to the tone of all the replies to your statement - not just yours. But even short trips can be beneficial - you may not be aware if that congregation has long-term ties with the local community. For example, non-church related, but a local MSU football player and former teacher bikes every other…
Hey, every group has uneducated jerks. Doesn't seem fair to judge everyone else based on this guy who probably didn't listen to what he was told.
I have friends whose church sponsors a local mission trip every year here in the United States. The mission is often about being a service to others, rarely is it about witnessing or trying to convert a non-Christian population. This year, they drove to Colorado and helped communities physically dig out from the…
Okay , I know I'm gonna get a lot of flack for this but all the comments in this thread are incredibly judgmental. As a teacher, I've had many students work both in the US and overseas in mission work. I've also had many nieces and nephews work overseas. Whenever these groups go overseas, it's been in conjunction…
I though about the Data Ghosts in "The Silence in the Library", too.
Most colleges and universities have designed support structures for their special needs students; they provide the same accommodations and supports that high schools do. Frankly, many of them do a better job since they are only providing services to highly- motivated SE students.
http://www.melskitchencafe.com. LOVE THIS! Mel tests every recipe on her family, tries to use ingredients that easily found everywhere, avoids processed foods and high fructose corn syrup while keeping in mind that many of us work and need good, healthy, quick meals fairly often.
I was expecting a baby girl shortly after Hurricane Katrina. I teach 8th grade in a school with many ESL students and was constantly getting suggestions for baby names. I still have the piece of paper suggesting "Marina, Latrina, Katrina". Oh, and I had a student who wrote her name as "La-a" although her legal…
My daughter had a slumber party for her 10th birthday over the weekend. I'm astounded by the passive- aggressive bitchiness I witnessed by these 9 year old girls. While eating dinner, some girls wanted to go outside while others were still eating. When informed they had to wait for everyone, several started making…
in his writings, he says that he decided to kill his roommates so he could use his apartment to torture victims without disruption.
