Every single person needs to go read Caity Weaver’s article on Amtrak sleeper trains in the NYT right now. It is the best thing I’ve maybe ever read (definitely best thing I’ve ever read in the NYT). I laughed, I cried, I cry-laughed and laugh-cried.

i am extremely tired of all hollywood acting like new york is the be all and end all of cities that are cool and interesting to live in, HOWEVER this looks fun and i love lizzo and female friendships and jane the virgin and nonsense and this seems full of all of those things so sure, let’s have a green juice mimosa

I’ve been anxiously awaiting this title for a while now. Can’t wait to pick it up now that it’s out!

I mean, it was probably scored with generic trailer music 2 weeks ago.

Looks like they have almost everything from the book covered, except maybe the “Four Bikers of the ‘Pocalypse”-Grievous Bodily Harm, Cruelty to Animals, Really Cool People, and Treading In Dogshit (formerly All Foreigners Especially The French, formerly Things Not Working Properly Even After You’ve Given Them A Good

I heard the core group of tested specimens are known as the “Grapes of Math”

One of the things that complicates Gibson’s arc in this movie, I think, is that, if her later movies are any indication, Meyers does have a genuine affection for old-school, whiskey-and-Sinatra guys who are charmingly assholish. Witness Jack Nicholson in Something’s Gotta Give, or Alec Baldwin in It’s Complicated, or

Caroline, I love this whole series so much, but this may be my absolute favorite.

It’s been a really long time since I’ve read/wrote “RIP Milihelen” and I want to take the time to fill that gap: RIP Milihelen.

  • Boyle: “Have you seen all these posters of David Stovelman’s wife, Debbie?”
Jake (reading): “‘I’m happy, healthy, and alive.’ Oh, Debbie dead.”
    Boyle: “Debbie real dead.”

I dunno, I think having the words she stole permanently tattooed on her is...

Instead of spacing the legendary queens out a bit, they needlessly blew their wad in All-Stars 2. This lineup is the result of that poor decision.

Annual reminder to myself and other Canadians:

White people can leave guns lying around their houses and when one of their toddlers shoots their other toddler the police and DA just say, “Well, this family has suffered enough.”

I just read Angela Carter’s The Bloody Chamber, which is an anthology of fairy tales that some she re-imagined and others are new stories. The title story is obviously a Bluebeard story. Every story is beautifully written and, most, of the main female characters are strong, powerful women. I highly recommend this book.

Ex Machina was the Bluebeard story on film, though no one seemed to notice.

I should also add that Willoughy did get the girl in the end. He and Emma Thompson have been together since S&S. And, if you’ve watched The Crown, you’ve seen him. He plays Mountbatten.
