What's your favorite grilling music?

What's the benefit of that?

Love reading these.

Awesome closing line.

Anyone who didn't answer "A Fan's Notes" gave the wrong response.

The car chase in "To Live and Die in L.A." has got to be up there, too — going the wrong way on a freeway? I still don't know how they did it.

Fellow Chicagoan here — I didn't notice him simmering about a lack of balls (snicker) last year. However, that play yesterday, and his "I didn't do anything wrong" interview afterwards, really turned me off. I read somewhere someone commented that he'd previous broken someone's leg on purpose...?

Stacey King blocked me after I wrote the best thing he ever did for the Bulls was get traded for Luc Longley.

No, you're right. There are no differences between the Yankees and the A's. You've nailed it.

Plus the money to get Clemens, A-Rod, Pettitte, Tanaka, etc.

Beane gets the praise because he's almost always in the mix despite a minimal payroll. "Revolutionized" is a big word, but he's dramatically changed the way teams are put together and players are evaluated. That's why he gets praised. I hope to hell the A's win it all to finally silence all the "butt where are da

What makes you think the Marlins want to part with Stanton? Between Soler, Almora, Bryant, and Schwarber (who kind of looks like a beast), the Cubs seem to be doing ok in the outfield. Granted, Stanton is... Stanton.

That's exactly right. There are a disappointing number of Cubs fans who are like, "Theo sucks! He's been in charge for long time and they're not winnign! This is bullshit!" One blog took a look at the FAs who were available and showed what they could have done and how little it would have changed the team. (And,

I don't know enough about prospects to say, and I do fear that Baez is overhyped. That said, almost every scout raves about him — I don't think we're talking about Felix Pie here. But given that they didn't draft him, and that his skill set doesn't seem like the kind that Theo et al would necessarily seek out, I

Fair enough. Thanks for the reasoned response.

You'd put Alcantara above the holy trinity (Bryant, Baez, or Soler)? Are you slamming Theo or praising him? I can't tell.

I would argue that you're not meeting the right people. Every team has their moron fans. I've been a season-ticket holder for many years and the people in my group know a shitload about baseball — to say nothing of the excellent Cubs bloggers out there (Cubs Den, Bleacher Nation, Obstructed View, etc.).

They are investing in the team — they've redone their Dominican and AZ facilities, hired more scouts and upgraded their scouting infrastructure, and outspent everyone in the international draft. The fact that they didn't throw stupid money at Albert Pujols or Josh Hamilton isn't indicative of a team that's giving up.
