ugh. I can't believe I opened this page and your question is right at the top.

Fuck all that "supposed to feel overjoyed" crap! I don't have personal experience with meds for depression, but I went through a tough time with my pregnancy and probably the first 4 months PP. There is So Much of your life about to change and not all of it is happy.
are you familiar with infant risk? http://www.infantrisk.com perhaps someone on their hotline can help talk through some of your concerns
I don't have any advice to offer on the medication front, but I just wanted to say it sucks that you're going through this. I was fine before I fell pregnant, but suffered from perinatal depression and it was one of the hardest things ever. It's not an easy thing to discuss with friends because everyone expects you to…
I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I took Zoloft throughout my pregnancy and there were no issues. I also did not experience postpartum, so just keep in mind that's not a guarantee if you do have a history of depression. As everyone else has said, talk to your doctors. Seriously consider going back on the meds. I…
I went off my meds (welbutrin) for my most recent pregnancy. It was really hard, I so feel you. FWIW, my sister who also takes welbutrin went, during her pregnancy, to the MGH Center for Women's Mental Health in Boston, which is one of the premiere places anywhere for dealing with pregnancy and mental health, and they…
My "friend" used Nefazodone throughout both her pregnancies and during breastfeeding. This was after consulting with my OB and pshrink, both of whom do research in the Boston area. Both of them told me "fuck if I know what you should do" because there is little to no research.
I took Buspar while pregnant, although I stopped around 10 weeks because I kept throwing them up and the hormones kind of got rid of my anxiety for some reason. (Until the end, anyway)
But that's the thing—those hormones are so unpredictable.* So far as any studies I've seen on Wellbutrin or Buspar (as of 2011),…
I think that you have done the best that you could do for your baby.
You need to take care of yourself so that s/he is healthy too. Elevated cortisol levels aren't good for her/him either. If your psychiatrist suggested that you go back on after the first trimester, I think you should call them (or the ob) and discuss…
Oh, my pregnancy hormones made my depression so much worse. I'm sorry you are suffering. I see that you are close to the 12 week mark. You might be able to go on Paxil or something once you get past 13 weeks since it will be past all the critical developmental milestones. I hope you feel better soon.
I second calling your Ob and psych and discuss going back on. If they said taking those meds were okay during pregnancy to begin with then I'm sure your baby will be okay. Your doctors are looking out for you.
You're damned if you do and damned if you don't. How far into your pregnancy are you?
I met Prince Harry. And touched him. And had a picture made. He smiled, laughed, and talked. I nearly pushed my husband off the bench so there would be room between us.
Backstory: May 2013 His Royal Hotness came to Walter Reed-Bethesda to visit wounded warriors. Since my dream man is one (war sucks, umkay), we got the…
Words have meanings people. You can't just pick a word and hope that it means what you want. That's how Sarah Palin was unleashed on us.
Also if it helps: this feeling is totally normal at various stages. I'm currently 27 weeks pregnant with a much-wanted baby after a much-regretted miscarriage, and occasionally I still get "OH MY GOD WE MADE A HUMAN WHY THE FUCK DID WE DO THAT WHY DID I THINK I COULD DO THIS I HAVE TO PUSH THIS THING OUT OH SHIT!"
It's terrifying and exhilarating all at once. Sorta like skydiving with eighteen years of free fall.
Teach it to mix cocktails and you're golden.
Yeah. I think it is super normal to be both psyched and terrified and amazed and really sick of not being able to lie on your stomach.
Just wait til it starts moving...I'm 30 weeks and the creature started doing full on "Alien" moves in my stomach. It's the craziest feeling, and you can SEE IT RUMBLE.
Ooooh! Don't listen to the earth-mamas. Well, some advice will be handy but anything that's "natural" and "easy" is probably not true. I'm not saying motherhood is hell - far from it! - but when it's new, it's hard and terrifying.
