'Open Beta' means that you can download it for people looking for it, but its not going to be on under "network' in XMB like say 'folding@home' is. So its not an actual release with visibility.
I'm on the Beta, Home is really great when you're on with friends you know. This is the primary benefit from my perspective; it can be good fun with the right people. Problem is that its still in Beta and most of my friends didn't get in.
