Your opinion is troubling for several reasons. In a nutshell, second guessing advocates is counterproductive because it invalidates their first hand experience with living and coping with autism. Most of the advocates I know and talk to don’t want to upend ABA, they want to reframe the conversation and reduce negative

Yes have Lisa pass the torch to Sandoval and leave this show too. Not enjoying her encroaching as an actual cast member with petty beef on VPR.

It’s a little sad that is your take on this whole story.

No. Just, no. This shit has got to stop. We have got to take politics seriously. Treating it just like some academic idea or like a sports team you root for is destructive. It trivializes things that are very much life and death to a lot of people.

The problem is politics these days are boiled down to “who deserves to be discriminated against/shot and who doesn’t”.

This fluff piece is entirely predicated on BS bothsidesism, and the idea that both sides are equally valid. Not all onions are equally valid, full stop. Whatever passes for modern conservatism is absolute trash, and is absolutely rooted in the ideas of classism and various other -isms that I won’t get into because thei

Just had to cut someone off this week. Knew him for over 15 years but asshole does not recognize or respect trans lives. He had slowly been influenced by fauxHotepness to become anti-science and anti-lgbt.

You’re cool with overlooking Nazism because of basketball?

It is easy to “agree to disagree” about politics if you are a straight cis white person (and especially a man).

The trouble nowadays is that sometimes it’s not really about politics — it’s that you’ve learned in the CONTEXT of a political discussion that a friend holds views that you find completely repugnant on something that you care about a lot. I’ll never lose a friendship over a disagreement on tax or health care policy,

Most people would rather not end relationships over politics. The bigger problem arises when you consider what someone’s political views mean when it comes to who they actually are.

You’re friends with Nazis?

“Not all Republicans are racists, climate change deniers, religious zealots, etc.”

The rights of anyone who’s not White.  The rights of the White are the only things this current administration supports.  Don’t be deliberately obtuse.  I do find it interesting you address her as “this woman”.  It shows pretty well what side you’re on.  Thanks White Power Peter (R).

counter point. If you don’t agree with marriage equality, civil rights for all, stopping the atrocity on the border then you are a horrific waste of humanity and I don’t want you as a friend.

“People who think like this are selfish and childish? People who believe in basic human rights?  Yeah, how awful of them.

There’s a stark difference between “I think we need to be doing more to support local businesses and my friend would rather we focus on protecting our waterways but we can still love and respect each other” and “I believe female/gay/trans/brown/non-christian/foreign people are people and my friend supports Trump so we

The reasons that Trump got elected range from an innocent enough “always R” to “ a woman can’t be president” to “I’m a white supremacist and you can be too”. To imply that both candidates were on equal ground is disingenuous at best. Trump didn’t win because of policy.

Everyone has their political line that no one can cross.

A difference in politics is one thing, but supporting an openly racist and sexist individual is another. I can see why that would be pretty damming to any relationship unless both partners were racist.
