I think it depends in large part on how you define success in art. If you’re looking for the approval of the arbiters of taste, whether critics or the more discerning movie fan, then it doesn’t matter who you try to appeal to, the product will speak for itself. If you’re looking for financial or mainstream success

It’s ironic - not in the Alanis Morisette sense - that a website in large part built on standing up for others would feel all threatened and upset at a guy doing exactly that, only NOT behind the safety and security of his own computer. Chill out, he didn’t yell at YOU. He’s a good guy in this scenario.

Not gonna lie, her being a welder blew my mind when young me saw it.

Flashdance.

“Smart people will see it for what it is.”

Goddamn. What a master.

4/20 is worth observing if only to drown out the only other notable event associated with the date, Hitler’s birthday. Instead, it’s a day of love and people coming together.

Stigma against women smoking? Oh, non-coastal US, you’re so weird. My dealer is not only a woman, she’s running a very successful and organized business doing it. I’m pretty sure I know more women than men that smoke. It’s almost weirder if people don’t, but that’s Rhode Island for you.

The issue here is that the university is protecting an asshole because he’s a Made Guy, not that her claims were dismissed (though yes, they likely would’ve been in an age before social media). You invited the

Goddammit, I left a small thermal exhaust port exposed again!

If it affects people’s ability to take rape accusations seriously, then it is absolutely a problem.

If your idea of coping strategies is SHOOTING a guy, you DON’T HAVE COPING STRATEGIES.

She’s a HUUUUUGE See You Next Tuesday, but ehhhh, I can’t get behind “silence the non-believers”. Show that she’s wrong by letting her lecture to a 90% empty auditorium, not by taking away her ability to fail.

I, for one, am shocked that money and power would turn someone into an asshole.

Um. That class and status allows this person to keep his job and that there are people who use accusations of sexual misconduct as a weapon are two separate issues. That this man’s connections and money allows him to keep his job doesn’t invalidate, say, the woman who threatened to accuse the Uber driver of rape

It’s my birthday, it was my present to myself.

Roses are reds,

I agree completely. It’s disgusting how stigmatised mental health issues are and how much pressure is put on men to keep their feelings and emotions under the surface to be taken seriously both in their personal and professional life. Men often aren’t raised to have proper coping strategies or feel like their emotions
