Did you read the original post I was responding to? I have zero problem with a new character taking on the same persona, but the original post is equating this to changing an established character's race, and is calling people who oppose that racist, which I object to for a number of reasons.

In "Ms. Marvel", the superhero? No. In Carol Danvers, the first girl to hold the Ms. Marvel title? Yes, because that's how Roy Thomas envisioned her.

Agreed, which is why I'm not comfortable making blanket statements like "if you have sex with someone while they're under the influence, it's rape". In the above case, it clearly is, but that's clearly not every situation.

Kind of a half-assed outfit, if you ask me.

Maybe not legally, sure, but how many people go home with someone after having a drink or two too much? You can make poor decisions while drunk without it being rape, even if you regret it the next day.

You don't have to watch (or know) every James Bond movie to watch any of them. Doesn't mean that he's not an established character with certain established traits.

By the way, Jaime Reyes was a better Blue Beetle than Ted Kord ever was. His series? Canceled twice.

Canon means as much as a writer wants it to mean. A good writer can draw upon years of stories, or create a great, completely self-contained story.

Touche.

On further reading, I skimmed over the part where the theoretical person was afraid of harm, and focused more on them giving consent due to being interested in one of the people involved. Certainly, giving consent to one person isn't the same as giving consent to all involved.

No.

Go sit in a shed. There are plenty of heroes of color (in fact, Quantum & Woody, one of the best "black" superhero books of the 90's just relaunched) and there's plenty of room for more heroes of color. Changing an established character for no real reason "just because" is NOT GOOD WRITING. Miles Morales is a GREAT

Sounds neat, I'll check out the first issue, at least.

I hate the fact that minorities get called out for our "ridiculous" names, but ridiculous white names usually get a pass.

My first name is not only ridiculous in an English-speaking context, but near-fucking-unpronounceable. So I go by my second name, and it's no big deal.

So "no" means "no", AND "yes" means "no"?

Oh, Debbie Harry. I will never not have a teenage crush on you.

Check mate, Japan.

Mega Bloks have increased in quality pretty drastically. The Halo license probably helped their finances quite a bit.
