Awesome article! As a proud former owner of a ‘96 Tercel with more than 300k miles on the odo and 2 engine swaps, I know this feeling exactly. I’ve had cars from all ends of the spectrum, but that was my favorite. Unfortunately, everyone hated it and it didn’t fit my “image”of successful professional at all.

Mercedes-Benz is one of the few brands that markets their diesel options for less than the petrol equivalent here in the United States. I don’t think I have to explain why diesels are better. If you don’t mind carrying a little AdBlue around, why not opt for all that torque?

It's so amazingly coincidental that you're showing a BLUE NEON for this article. Some guy in almost this exact same car was kicking my ass on my first track day. I was driving a fairly new Camaro SS. This guy had balls and mad skills, plus I guess he wasn't afraid to crash it.
