I thought the answer was gonna be “mojo”.

The first car I bought with my own money was a used ‘94 Scoupe for $4,900. It was a delightfully weird car, but it was sporty and fun for something so underpowered. I remember it literally could not exceed 105 mph but it felt like 205 in that car. Sure, it was a piece of junk, but it was my piece of junk and I drove

I once rented a Versa and wanted to ram it into a tree after a day with it. If there’s any car that is the opposite of a halo car, the Versa is it.

A few years ago I was roaming a Honda dealer’s lot and came across an ‘08 Civic Si that looked pretty interesting. I wasn’t car shopping, but I was curious, and a salesman finnally came by, so we took it out for a spin.

I know this is going against the trend, but I still buy my music and refuse to stream. First of all, none of the streaming services have all of the artists I like, and more importantly, I like to have the actual music files - it gives me a lot of flexibility. With iTunes, it goes a step further because I still “own”

Awesome article! As a proud former owner of a ‘96 Tercel with more than 300k miles on the odo and 2 engine swaps, I know this feeling exactly. I’ve had cars from all ends of the spectrum, but that was my favorite. Unfortunately, everyone hated it and it didn’t fit my “image”of successful professional at all.

Superb article! This definitely needed to be written and it captures my exact feelings in a way I can’t express. Well done.

Being a 3-time GL owner, I can chime in here...

I currently have a ‘14 GL350 BLUETEC and it is by far the best GL I have ever owned. Why? Becuase torque. The GL is a heavy-ass behemoth that needs lots of low-end grunt to get it moving, and Germans aren’t fond of high-displacement engines that motivate GM’s similar

1. I eschew all in-car tech and simply use my phone as a hand-held device. I only pair my phone via USB cable for “iPod” audio connectivity and that’s that. If I see a cop, I lower the phone, hang up, or put it on speaker. I don’t care what anyone says about the safety of texting or talking and driving, I find myself

You can pry my mid-size Acura sedan from my cold, dead, hands, dammit.

That’s why I drive a 85 C10 in fair condition.

Mercedes-Benz is one of the few brands that markets their diesel options for less than the petrol equivalent here in the United States. I don’t think I have to explain why diesels are better. If you don’t mind carrying a little AdBlue around, why not opt for all that torque?

Hook, line, and sinker.

Ironically, the people making these videos are actually the bad drivers because they expect perfection and honk at everyone that doesn’t meet their expectations.

Thank you for this! You have articulated what I have been feeling about the TL and could not express myself.

So much win for this car, even with the mega-pricey maintenance.

It's so amazingly coincidental that you're showing a BLUE NEON for this article. Some guy in almost this exact same car was kicking my ass on my first track day. I was driving a fairly new Camaro SS. This guy had balls and mad skills, plus I guess he wasn't afraid to crash it.

And I don't like the tone of your argument. Your analogies are meaningless and you come off as someone who doesn't know how to drive a manual.

Interesting that you brought up halo cars (there was an article about the LFA, and halo cars in general yesterday). I like that you think the Miata is a halo car...I also believe that a halo car can be any "cool", high-performance model that gets customers excited about the brand. It doesn't have to be exotic or
