You guys just completely ignored every version of star trek other than the T.O.S. What about Data? What about wormhole travel in T.N.G. or D.S.9?
I think he'd get better luck putting a pair of thrusters at the hips or slightly forward of the hips as well. Runners get their speed by not touching the ground for as long as possible, so a bit more "levitation" would dramatically increase speed. However, the current angle is very good.
