The Second Age material has much more to do with political infighting among fantasy characters, and if we learned one thing from Star Wars it’s that audiences love fantasy politics.

I’m just taking a wild guess here, but I’m thinking it’s probably about darkness spreading over the land and the ragtag group of underdogs who are tasked by fate with vanquishing it. Like every fantasy thing ever

I had no idea AT ALL that that guy was supposed to be Elrond

Sophia Nomvete is the the first to play an actual female dwarf character rather than a silent background extra for a few seconds of screentime.

Obviously this is early still, before I’ve seen a real episode, but I can’t really get over just how banal this all seems. I mean, the environment looks nice, but the actors, and the lines that they’re delivering, seem very... mediocre, generic fantasy to me. I had no idea AT ALL that that guy was supposed to be

lol. Triggered?

there’s no story to tell. That’s the problem. So clearly they’re going with “sauron is bad and he’s becoming powerful and we have to stop him” which is just LOTR over again.

I guess I’ll have to be that Tolkien nerd who starts off saying “Well, actually...”

Usually I’d expect a price decrease from Nintendo by this time in the console’s life cycle. It’s been over 5 years and no price change. Nintendo keeping the same price is in a way a kind of de facto price increase.

I find those cringeful people cringeful. Oh no, I’ve become a part of the problem and not the solution.

It wasn’t even quips so much as it is the limited vocal range of Roiland. He’s like H. Jon Benjamin in that he’s basically got one voice and it’s super recognizable (although Benjamin does do some silly stuff with his voice playing tertiary characters on Bob’s Burgers). Unlike Benjamin, that one voice is grating to

and then it got played out by that fervent fandom

Eh, talking weapons are an old game mechanic and I usually like them. First one I remembered was Lilalcor the talking sword in Baldur’s Gate 2. It was kind of a fun mechanic since you can get the sword early enough that it’s pretty powerful at the time, but eventually you’re weighing the benefits of the sword against

How dare you sir, this is the internet, you must have strong feelings!

Yeah, I knew that didn’t sound right. Ten in the top 40 and six in the top 10. Not bad for a band no one admits listening to!

This one has been driving me crazy in the recaps all season long: At absolutely no point in time did anything in the show say that the phone number they were texted from belonged to Det Williams.

Also, she wasn’t using Det Williams’ phone. The trio just *assumed* it was Det Williams (as in who else would be helping them?)

Although Cinda’s Nickelback line was funny, they’re not a one-hit wonder. Generally derided by critics and hipsters, yes, but they have a bunch of hits.

“Why Poppy texted the trio using Det. Williams’ phone to get out of the building when she wanted to frame the”
