Thank Sony for this, if not for them Microsoft would forever ask for thousands of dollars just so developers could patch their own titles. Ridiculously dumb from their part, glad they went this route for the good of both developers but more importantly consumers.
On the contrary, it does nothing more than incentivize developers to publish incomplete games because why settle for $60 when you can feed people bite sized $5 pieces of the original idea later and make even more money?
Also to be fair there is no proof of this theory. It's speculation. Valid well founded speculation but speculation all the same. If Sony did have the drm stuff I assure you they dropped before 3e when MS started getting all the bad press for their DRM policies.
