Good reminder! I totally forgot about showing duplicates under the the built in search tool - the reason i stopped using it is exactly what you described, it'll show any similar named file under different folders...

Unless I missed something - I didn't see anyone mention below about deleting duplicates; I'm guaranteed to be plagued by music and video files that I thought were imported to itunes/iphoto/imovie but weren't so I kept a copy, but then itunes kept it's own copy in it's database pacakge...
