I had checked the value on my truck before I headed to the dealer with a friend who is in the business. He said $5k to $6k would have been reasonable. And I also negotiated the price of the new truck itself down the best I could. But thanks for being so cool and not at all condescending about it.

I love it. I have the 2015 4-door v6 LT trim model (in BROWN). I just passed 30k miles and am about to do that milestone’s check this week (wish me luck).

I got nearly $8k from the dealer for my 03 Tacoma with 130k miles. Traded it for a 15 Colorado LT V6. I was thinking I would get no more than $5k for it.

True, but I still think S&D plays a role here. I can’t imagine the decision to offer it on upper trims was anything less than deliberate. I’d like to imagine they knew that the market for the diesel matches the mid and upper trim customers.

Full disclosure, I am a Colorado owner, so I am biased, but before that I was a Tacoma owner. Something about the Colorado felt better than the Taco, and I find it to be a good combo of utility and daily driving comfort. I get 21-22 mpg mixed, I can fit 4 adults comfortably (5 if one is small), and I can still throw…
