That’ll be a hard pass from me then. CarPlay is one of the must have features for me. I want my apps through a reasonable interface.
That’s an awesome price for an extremely power machine!

He has discussed this many times, especially with his time at Ford. A lot of it comes down to “we’ve always done it this way” or “that’s how the boss wants it”. It’s very difficult to innovate or break the mold in an existing company. There’s tremendous risk but also tremendous reward.
The smart ones are. OEMs still do their own teardowns, but tend to be more costly and less accurate.
There’s cultural differences baked into each company as well. Part of the reason Ford has admitted it can’t innovate or drive cost of assembly down to where they want.
4th gear, Toyota could have saved some money and just watched Munroe’s youtube channel...
Normally putting it in “sport” mode disables that feature, sometimes there’s a setting / button buried somewhere as well.
I don’t have one, but getting rid of the Ford door ajar jingle would advance civilization by 50+ years.
Weirdly, sometimes they have a double DIN version for Japan only. I found a fascia plate (OEM) for my 2011 WRX. Threw in a carplay head unit and have no issues.
