You forgot the pioneer role model for black mothers on TV. Julia Baker was a widowed (her husband died in Vietnam) single mother. She held a job as a nurse and worked hard to support her son and provide him a loving home and environment. She should be Number one on every list.

My very good (lesbian) friends were married by this wonderful woman. She is filled with love and God’s grace—and I had the joy of speaking with her at the wedding and seeing her in action months later. This woman IS what every religion should be, loving, warm, compassionate and inviting.

It bothers me every time I see people say this, because for every mega-church pastor driving home in a Rolls, there are 100 small churches like mine hosting Monday afternoon dinners for homeless folks, collecting funds to pay a single-mother’s light bill, and letting gay teens do really earnest interpretive dances…

Gawd I can actually hear the theme music....I think this is easily one of the most romantic scenes in any movie ever. The fact that DDL can be SO HOT here and then be such an enormous dweeb in my fave movie A Room with a View is a testament to his acting ability.
