I was practicing some cheers for the upcoming school year with a couple of my neighbors just for fun.

I live in the middle of dumbfuckistan....in the actual country no less. Here is a condensed conversation I had yesterday with a farmer talking about football (since he went to one of the state schools and I went to the other about a thousand years ago).

Their opposition was mainly out of habit. Speaking about the adults where I grew up, the rejection of Facebook was almost reflexive: it didn’t fit in the nexus of local newspaper, nightly news, or credible periodical. They trusted establishment sources.

A related and equally depressing point is that the kind of people who take this stuff quasi-seriously don’t even *care* that much about it. They’re not going to check back in a month or two and be like “why are the Seahawks still in the NFL?” while anxiously awaiting Sean Hannity to report on the latest developments…

I can’t speak to the legitimacy of the Bennett photo, but I do know this picture is real and it pisses me off. Really, though, we all kind of secretly knew.

3rded. Just looking at the photos of him above the Manhattan skyline, even the ones where he’s not walking on the wire, make me shudder.

I can’t recall why it came up but I recently told someone “I would lay down in traffic for Drew Magary.” They seemed so surprised but I was like, “Yeah no Drew is a thoughtful and generous person and I would do anything for him.” Thanks for writing this, Drew, and proving me right. (I love being right!)
