Whatever CFL's we use don't seem to last any longer than regular incandescent's. I haven't logged exactly how long they've lasted, but we've been in this house for two years and tried out CFL's in different fixtures to try them out. When I noticed I was changing out the same CFL's multiple times I went back to

Anyone have any extensive real-world experience with these? Do they really last as long as they are hyped for, or is it another CFL snow job?

Maybe he meant chilling with axes? Are we going to start hearing about axes soon?

Wow, what a douchey looking picture at the top of the article. I wonder how much (if any) of his lifestyle was paid for with funding from Islamic groups, and how much was just Mom and Dad were rich?

I can see putting a NFC tag on the phone charger at work and having that shut off notifications from distractions like social networks and Words with Friends and such.

Does a Roku box count as an HTPC? If so, then yes.

Ours are young, yet. We're starting a "technology bucks" thing with them where they get a certain number of tech bucks at the beginning of the week that are good for buy TV time, Xbox time, computer time, or whatever. And once they've spent them, that's it for the week.

Ahh...I was hoping for some cool program for it. Something like speetest.net for your internal network.

"...some Cat5 cables can reach gigabit speeds, but unless you want to run speed tests and find out—which sounds horribly tedious to me—"

Get a wallet that uses the space effectively by storing your cards in two side by side stacks instead of the stairstep stupidness of most wallets. Google for all-ett wallets.

As explained in the Hacker's Diet: http://www.fourmilab.ch/hackdiet/

Pretty much. And any attempts to move to a simpler flat tax system are derided as stupid.

This only works if your tax situation doesn't change during the year. If you have kids, open a business, get unemployed, refinance your house, etc, it all changes.

A few times. One time there was a guy who kept telling me I was getting paid too much (I wasn't) and it was a long back and forth to get him to even match the salary I was currently making, but he wouldn't give me a bump at all. If the work had been a unique growth opportunity that would have been enough to overcome

You can either coast in the short term, which will inevitably be bad in the long term. Or you can put your resume out there and see if you can get any offers. Personally, I've always seen a boost in career growth every time I've changed jobs. It shouldn't be a scary thing.

The stuff with Sodium Lauryl Sulfate makes my grass look great. Highly recommended.

Just because it won't kill you doesn't mean that you should sit on it every day and eat your dinner off of it.

Except...don't do this. A lot of times, the preservative used for the wood in pallets is toxic. So, splinters from them....not so good for you.

I just got an Airport Extreme a few months ago, and I'm still having to reboot it every couple days. As far as I can tell, its not any better than the cheap piece of crap it replaced.

I wouldn't try to plan on a whole lot...leave it loose and flexible. And if you want to be cheap and not look cheap, I would find a decent B&B in a historic city or small town with a decent amount of things to do, but not one of the big name ones like Paris, or whatever. Anyway, find a small romantic B&B and stay
