It is said they are more hygienic and easier to clean. Even so they are some what inconvenient and I don't like them, too. Everytime you think you could accidently step in it.

Yeah, but the problem is you need to be connected to the internet / to your PSN Acc. to use Near. So it is really useless on the Wifi only if there is no free to use Wifi or Wifi at all.
