During its theater heyday I may have been banished by some acquaintances who couldn’t understand why I hated it so much, so I can’t imagine it would be enjoyable now.

Not sure how other people will react to your critique/essay. It is poetic, completely self-indulgent, and filled with so much ennui that it borders on being parodic.

The movie certainly does have this reaction.  People seem to either love it or hate it.  I love it - I was 37 when I saw the film in the theater and still enjoy watching.

When she reference Teju Cole, I went, “YUP that is the writing she’s trying to emulate here.” I think she hit it well, but I also hate that style of writing. It feels like trying to dress up depression in pretty clothes (the literal version of this being something she hates), to hide real points amid quotes and

I saw this movie in the theater (by myself, as I recall). I liked it a lot.

Maybe that’s it. I was over 30 when I first saw it, and all I wanted to do was slap every single character. Ugh.

You're only 30. Don't worry. There's still plenty of time for you to grow up and realize how embarrassingly bad this movie is.

They shouldn’t have let that guy speak to the press. Retail’s doing badly, Victoria’s Secret has too many stores, and the sizes in them are getting larger to match the general population, no matter what he says. Their PINK brand is saving their ass, and young women like to think of themselves as pretty inclusive.

One time I asked Karolina Kurkova about it, and even she said it’s “so stupid.”

“Good PR”

Unless we’re talking about a show for a plus-size brand, every single women’s fashion show features tall skinny women. No one has to list them explicitly because  we already know they’ll be there.

I. . . don’t know what your point here is. But ok.

“Because the show is a fantasy" trans female sex workers get a lot of Johns, and trans women also get a lot of messages on Tinder, but okay, let's keep pretending straight dudes don't fetishize trans women.

Now playing

I’m reminded of the old Seinfeld episode, when the folks at Del Boca Vista got some knockoff tip calculators (they wanted Wizards, they got Willards) and became pissed because they were always overtipping.

Seems like she’s going for The Asshole Waitress.

Righr? I thought this was the salty waitress, not the bitchy waitress.

Well at least this time she thought enough to call the letter-writer a cheapskate and to call their question “dumb.” I’m sure that will encourage people to tip more.

Tipping post tax is just easier math. What’s even easier? The way I do it. Let’s say the total is $82.79. I just take the first number, 8, double it 16, and round it up to the nearest multiple of 5. So $20 tip.
