I typically turn off barbarians too. I had too many instances where they would say 'Screw your civ in particular'. Would they go after the other civs scout one space away? No. They would go after my scout 2 spaces away.

Not gun related at all but I have to make this point to my wife all the time about our daughter. Yes worrying about her is normal and necessary. No argument there. However you have to weigh the actual risk and stop at some point. She worries about every single risk to the point where she is nearing bubble mom status.

I think that is primarily because the movie used practical effects vs CG. Not that they had too much choice in 1984. Like the scene with the library cards blowing around. That was done with a bunch of people blowing in to small tubes on the other side of the wall. They had to put the cards back after every take.
