I was kind of hoping, in a not-very-hopeful way, that the next Superman movie would dispense with the origin story. I mean, is there anyone who does not know that the Superman, "came to Earth as an infant when the distant planet Krypton exploded, with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortalmen ..." yadda yadda

There should be a Rule of Science Fiction:

This is completely insane, but on the other paw, would be a way to control the crowding on transcontinental trains.

Have you never heard the collegiate adage, "Publish or Perish"?

You aqre absolutely correct. What they probably meant to say is "Victoriana" not "Civil War Steampunk", but nothing draws the trolls in IO9-verse than a mention of Steampunk, so I would guess the misnomer was intentional.

Umm, the Liverpool Melanic Moth story ahs been substantially debunked ( [www.trueorigin.org] ) and I believe IO9 even ran a piece on it.

Oooooeeeeeeephphphphpheeeeeeyo...!

Dit

Reminds me of a book I read once, "The Cloud Sculptors of Coral D", 1967, JG Ballard. Glider pilots sculpt clouds into fanciful shapes with some kind of dry-ice nozzle in their wingtips. Pretty cool.

I agree that it would have been nice, and far more conclusive, if they had used other forms of media on the test group. I suspect that what we are witnessing is the fact that if continuously stimulated, specific areas of the brain can become "tired" but will recover with rest.

Ruh roh.

Bbbut ... no POUCHES!!

Surrender now. I will make your death painless and quick. Hzz. Hzz.

"you're just adding a different vowel (cabra v. capra)?"

On the nose, you have understood my perplexity, which exceeds understanding.

"From a distance the metallic glossy track creates the impression of speed and exceeding acceleration."

Perhaps it is in the head in the LoC? Or maybe it currently being heard in the LoC (oddly appropriate)? Ot maybe it is being healed in the LoC?

I agree completely about the flyer ... I thought they were supposed to be graceful?

Oh, correct. Did I somehow imply that I think there is such an animal as a "responsible politician"?

Of course. That's Helium II, which is not to be confused with Ice-9.
