"The animals need to grow up fast, or at least faster than humans. There's not much point in trying to domesticate extremely long-lived species like elephants or tortoises, as it can take several years before they're even remotely useful, and their long life cycle limits how quickly their numbers can be replenished."…
Really? With that chin? Wow. Okay.
Curious.
Yeah, you are correct.
I would like to apologize for the multiple postings. The dang page told me "save failed", so I tried again. Methinks something may be out of whack. Nonetheless, sorry all!

Great post, but a small quibble: Cannon fodder does not mean "chutney." Cannon fodder was used originally to describe the private soldiers in the line armies of the European powers. Those soldiers were literally and figuratively fed to the guns of the opposing armies, marching line-abreast into the terrible fire.…
To be fair, as I read the account of the anonymous French physician, he does not say the head was conscious after the guillotine had done its thing, but rather that the eyes opened and appeared to focus, which could be simple reflex. Also, the function of the machine, whcih dropped a very sharp and very heavy blade…
Agreed. Also, why do Kotaku and Giszmodo get to go back to the tried and true while we at IO9 are stuck with this mess?
They really should not have made their soldiers out of meat-like taco filling.
