I read the comments...Why did I do that? I knew what I was in for.

I think it would derail the issue at the core of this ad campaign. I'm Hindu and I can see how this campaign could be considered offensive by many Hindus. My own initial reaction to seeing three celebrated Hindu goddesses depicted like this was not altogether positive.

I hope so too. I just hope the discussion isn't overtaken by people outraged over the use of Hindu goddesses for this campaign. That would be an unfortunate derailing of the main message.

What the actual fuck? This makes me want to cry with rage.

It'll be the Bollywood Fabulous class with free bindis! Extra fabulous.

I just have this image of these dolls killing people in their sleep.

Yes...let's equate the appropriation of a religious and cultural symbol with ridiculous cultural stereotypes in pasta commercials. That seems like a good comparison. A better comparison to your example would be how Indians have been portrayed in the media for quite some time, but I don't think that's really relevant

Porcelain dolls have always freaked me out. They look pretty homicidal to me.

She looks kind of disdainful. Like she's thinking "You don't deserve me".

This doll is fantastic! I love the expression on her face. :D

While I agree that what Miley did is far worse than Selena's appropriation of the bindi, I have to take issue with one thing you wrote: the problem with what she did isn't just about the religion, but also about the culture. The bindi isn't just a religious symbol, it's part of everyday Hindu culture. We're talking

The bindi is not just a religious symbol. It's also a cultural symbol. Even the most non-religious Hindus will still wear the bindi sometimes, depending on the circumstances.

It is sad that some people are reacting to this song as if he's the first person to ever address these issues, but isn't a positive dialogue about sexuality something to be desired, particularly when it's being put in the spotlight by so-called mainstream artists? I don't buy the idea that only people who belong to a

Don't forget our stellar collection of micro-brews.

I thought Four was supposed to be a good deal younger than Theo James (around 18 I believe). Theo James is almost 29.

Yeah the premise makes no sense and is really stupid. I enjoyed the first book, but only if I consciously ignored how dumb the premise was and focused on the character development and plot (which to be honest wasn't great either, but wasn't as stupid). I don't know if I want to continue the series, because I'm not

I thought it was amazing when she told me. That guy must have been traumatized. She told me that she hoped he remembered what happened.

There are definitely wide circles where this would be absolutely unacceptable. The huge numbers of men and women who are absolutely outraged speak to that, and I'm sure none of them are bragging about sexual assault to each other.

I think that's certainly the case some times, but it isn't always. Obviously it isn't a perfect system, and the prevalence of beatings isn't a good thing, but at least they aren't looking the other way or sanctioning the assaults. The intense protests against the prevalence of rape and sexual assault and the lack of

I hope that's not the case, because it reinforces outdated ideas of how women should behave.
