I've always loved that tune. There was a book of lists once that included Songs That Sound Like They Were Done By Someone Else. One example was The Hollies' Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress, which they said sounded like CCR. I think one was More Today Than Yesterday, which sounds like a Stevie Wonder tune. We Gotta…
Is this writer really unable to distinguish between off-the-field character flaws and cheating? I can't understand how somebody can compare racism, eg, and actual cheating at the sport, without seeing a distinction. It's not possible to be that stupid.
Great clips tonight. Somehow related, this is The Association at the Monterey Pop festival. It's like seeing a car radio in concert.
He runs a slick operation. I'm sure there will be a lot of demand for his innovative 13-Men-On-The-Field defense.
Lowell George, who wrote that tune, always said that Frank Zappa fired him from his band because of its drug lyrics.
I don't love this article, but to be fair, he doesn't offer Davis as an "analogy." It's an incident from Shanahan's past that is relevant, it deserves to brought up. He's not presenting it as some sort of case-law precedent. In both cases, the writer is saying, Shanahan took a hard-nosed, cavalier approach to a…
Gotta love this whole Geico caveman thing that Andrew Luck has going on.
+1, and I wish I could afford more.
That one is really great. You made me think of this one, another classic.
This one's not bad, it's nice to be able to just pull something like this up and hear it, these computers is great. Billie Holiday and Louis together in a 1947 film called New Orleans, so this is the theme song.
Sucks. Nah, just kidding. Speaking of movie music, here's Gene Vincent, a toughie but a softie, doing his best Judy Garland.
I'm gonna put one more up. The best musical opening to any movie ever.
Here's a little trivia for you. A lot of people don't know that Crosby Stills & Nash recorded some music originally slated for the great War Games. It got nixed from the movie, but this video was released and promptly died. It reveals CSN with a full-on case of the 1980s, quite horrible actually.
Ray Lewis: "Look at me. LOOK AT ME!!! LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME!!!!!!! Look. At. Me. Look at me!!!!"
Loud rumors of PEDs have always followed Piazza. Jeff Pearlman wrote a book in which he claimed Piazza has admitted PED use, while off the record, to sports journalists.
What's the point of these "Deadspin history" posts again?
Andy Reid seems beaten down and burned out, both. I know that people are different in real life and on TV, but he must be Jekyll and Hyde. From what we see of him, the idea that he could walk into a job interview, or any room at all, and muster up enthusiasm and energy for anything is beyond my imagination.
Trololol, musicologist.
