04 Alpine White/Imola with real BBS LMs. And SMG isnt that bad. A 6MT conversion might be on the way, but I'm also thinking 996 Turbo >.>
Glad someone said it
4 on my e46 m3. Unbelievable
I left cypress around 1 this afternoon to head back to Miramar, and I never saw or heard about any of this -_-
all I see is the bottom of that bumper
the s65 is 75 pounds lighter than the s54 and the car has a carbon roof, yet it still manages to be a pig. Looks good, but it's not terribly fast in stock guise
Sadly the 6MT's are owned by younger guys, although that includes me. Most of them call themselves "enthusiasts" who beat on the car, never do a valve adjustment, and wrap it around a tree. So sad, because this is what happened to the E36.
100% Agree! I love my SMG M3, and I loved my 6MT before it. But they serve two separate purposes. If I was hardcore track-ratting my E46, I would never want anything else but those insane up-shifts from my SMG. But I do miss how involved I felt with the 6 speed. It's almost like two entirely different cars.
Do you own an M3 with SMG-CSL tuning? It's pretty visceral. It's not clutch and shift knob involved, but it certainly has it's benefits over a basic 6 speed. I've had both
I may be biased, but S54 or bust
Agree on the ugliness of my facelift. I would not have an 04 M3 if they had facelifted them. Thank goodness for that. But all 3 of my early E46s were very reliable. You just need to do a lot of preventive maintenance to keep them pristine.
I had a 99 323i sedan and an 01 330ci and an 01 m3 and now an 04 m3, in the past 5 years. I had the first two for slightly over a year each and the only issue i ever had with either was the expansion tanks and the disa valve. Neither of them ever needed to spend time in a shop. The best way to own an E46 is know…

I have authentic rebarreled/refinished BBS LMs on my M3, certainly not replicas, so I know all too well about nice wheels being too expensive. You should look into forgestars or dpe, or even hre flow form. They are fantastic and priced very well
I will never get bored of the noise that my E46 M3 makes. There will always be other exciting, faster cars, but she holds a very special place in my heart. And yes, I know it's an e39 in the top.
Forgestar makes some extremely nice forged wheels for the price
please don't blame the rest of us for this asshat. :(

I just put the 60 pound stock exhaust back on my e46 m3 until I could get a less droney aftermarket replacement than the rogue engineering I had, and the stock exhaust doesn't even sound like anything. The majestic sound that most stock M cars make comes from the motor, not the pipes.
