Agreed. They're using the mean when they say $31,213, though - that's why I said it's the word THEY should have used.

I'm always amazed at how educated women who can clearly follow their own minds react to arranged marriages - whether they're positive or negative. I think she handled it wonderfully.

I wish I could recommend this x1000

Yeah, I'm kinda wondering if I can't just drag all my family & friends to a farm in PA or something. I'm pretty sure all I need is a large room, music, and a bar. And I'm pretty sure I can bring those last two in if the space doesn't provide it. No need for a separate ceremony space or cocktail hour, right?

I want a wedding under $20k, even if our families help enough for us to pay more.

I hate the word average. The word that should be used here is MEAN. I'd like to see the spread of the middle two quartiles, and maybe a distribution chart to see the skew....

As an atheist who once worked at a Jesuit college, I feel the need to defend -

Yeah, but they typically make you do that when you're a pre-teen and still too young to go against your parents on anything so major. So many of my Catholic-born friends are pissed about being bullied into that 10 or 20 years later.

Talk about unprofessional! I thought they were supposed to wait until after the date to use them for publicity? Is that something we need to worry about?

Agreed about the Doily Lady (and really, she got stuck with the nickname 'Doily Lady' - hasn't she suffered enough?). But it looks like the printer brought in their lawyer first for collections? Maybe? That was a really confusing article IMHO.

I'd be down for guerrilla marketing for The Knot with quotes like this.

No. Just no.

^ This. This is exactly what I was going to say.

At least he's somewhat consistent about wanting to keep babies alive once they're born.

Absolutely! I was about to argue that we still needed it in areas where comprehensive sex ed is the norm, then I looked up the Safe Haven stats for NJ (my state) Lo and behold, we average less than 3 illegally abandoned children per year since 2000, and only 60 were surrendered via safe haven in that time.
