Any my point is Volvo has had this same setup for nearly a decade. Why complain about it now? If anything the larger screen and faster UI will make it better, not worse.

I think the point is that what would bend a traditional frame wouldn’t do anything to a casting. If you get in a bad enough crash that would bend a casting, then chances are you were in a severe crash and fixing the frame would be the last of your worries

This sucks, but don’t all experimental procedures inherently come with a high safety risk? Don’t sign a waiver to be a beta patient and expect everything to do smoothly.

Replacing fenders and whatnot are no different, the gigacasting is the actual body structure. I was referring to a video Sandy Munro made explaining why gigacasting is stronger and debunking this myth that they’re more expensive to repair. He beat the casting with a sledge hammer and it didn’t dent at all. He did the

Does this go for Polestar 2 as well? Still would be weary buying a former rental car, but at least repair bills are more manageable vs Tesla.

Can’t speak for why repairs are more expensive, but the gigacasting shouldn’t theoretically impact repair costs. The casting is much much stronger and difficult to damage - e.g. it won’t be dented in the parking lot. If for some reason it is damaged, then chances are the car was in a serious crash and would be written

But it has no more/less physical switches than the current Volvo lineup, which is all screen minus the physical volume dial and next/previous track buttons, which is still here, just moved to the center console and consolidated into a single dial.

Dork

Another day another pointless article for the sole purpose of having the CT front and center on the home page.

What are you on about? You see them every day because you’re (I’m assuming) European, where this has been out for years. This is just launching in America, so duh we haven’t seen them yet. I live in Los Angeles, unless you consider California an unimportant economic area?

I'm sorry you confuse Europe for America

Chrysler needs to get on board ASAP. They had the first PHEV van and could’ve been the first to have an EV, but nope. I don’t understand why they’re so ashamed of their van heritage and keep chasing Dodge/Challenger customers.

Can VW just release this already?! It’s going to be DOA by the time it lands stateside. Really makes me respect Hyundai/Kia who seem to announce a new car and have it on dealer lots the next week.

Damn they woke up looking forward to this, huh?

Get back to work

Ford treated Volvo better than GM treated Saab, but I wouldn’t say Ford set Volvo up for success. They just recycled Volvo’s platforms and stole their safety tech for more mainstream brands (not necessarily a bad thing)

That’s a VW Scirocco

Could it be for the robots?

Humans are obsessed with being human. Kinda cringe lol.

Henry Lloyd-Who??
