The Lightning looks similar to the existing F150 but it certainty isn’t some hacked rush job like you’re implying. It shares very little with the ICE F150 and is built from the ground-up to be an EV and is packaged extremely well (there wouldn’t be a massive frunk otherwise)

I work in manufacturing and have visited China dozens of times over the past few years. China’s working conditions and quality of life have improved ten-fold over the years, and their lower costs are actually not that low anymore. In fact we’re moving production out of China due to increasingly higher costs.
