Some do it better than others, but it’s still an easy cop-out for visually “sprucing” up an otherwise generic light assembly. I imagine a design student fresh out of school wanting to throw everything they learned at the wall with little restraint for editing down.

I’ve always thought they were cool. At the time it was considerably nicer inside and out than most of the alternatives and attempted to do what Mazda is doing today by going upmarket.

Alltrack owner here as well and planning on driving it into the ground (already 90k miles strong). The MK8 lineup is OK, but don’t see any major selling points worth the upgrade compared to the near perfect MK7 platform.

over engineered, heavy and unnecessary; especially considering advancements in sound deadening materials. I guess they look cool in motion...?

But more importantly, what car has its gear shifter to the left side of the driver...?

I recently bought a used Golf Alltrack and I remember thinking while cross-shopping “why the hell would anyone buy a Tiguan over this?” The psyche of bigger = better really is baffling (though some time bigger is better... but that’s a topic for another website)

Is this what the kids mean by cheugy?

FWIW most concept cars have suicide doors strictly because it shows off the interior design better; no B pillar block the view inside.

I admire Volvo, but I’m not sure about this design... the boxy dimensions are a great throwback, but the current design language has sensuality that this design is lacking, especially the frontend which looks like an Xpeng G3...

Sofa King Stupid.

🤣

Because making a nicer version of the Supra and bringing back the SC name.... doesn’t make sense?

Uh, hey GM, we live in a global economy; there’s no such thing as domestic anymore.

The MX-30 already uses a rotary hybrid which drastically reduces weight compared to a piston engine. Doesn’t seem that farfetched to do the same for the Miata.

It just occurred to me that Jaguar’s biggest competitor will probably be Volvo. Both are going all electric, have equally stunning designs, lean more towards comfort than sport, etc etc

Why the hell is this 8 year old post about a poor family being killed being promoted to the top of my feed....?

No one wants an ugly ass truck that Trump tried to peddle, especially now that there are so many better, viable alternatives.

It hasn’t always been this way though, has it? I assumed advancement in computers/CAD gave us the ability and resources to consider such fine minute details. If not, then bless those engineers who had to work during the 80s

It really is a shame they backpedaled on the R8/TT interior design...
