My degree is in Film and Media Studies: theatres are the best damned way to watch a movie. That’s the way that 99% of films were meant to be seen. Watching a movie inside a game on your computer/TV is pretty bloody abhorrent, to my tatastes.

Why would watching a movie play inside of a video game make you miss theatres? I don’t understand the premise of this headline.

Hard pass. I want the fake theater thing, I throw on my Oculus headset, stream it from a local source in a virtual theater, and pass on the chattering audience.

Yeah. Honestly, as with everything else in this world, we’re heading more toward the Snow Crash future

So there was really no option to make the movie full-screen? A bit stupid if you ask me. Then again, some people don’t mind watching a movie that was filmed off the theatre screen with visible and audible audience...

As a millennial, I do my best not to criticize the next generation as I find it obnoxious that all the world’s ills are thrown on to us.

“Showing a movie in Party Royale isn’t a bad idea.”

There are some excellent subtle treatments of issues like war fervor vs. The reality of War, and I agree that presentism can miss the subtlety of working within the system at the time of production. However, I think Alex clearly explains how, even at the time, there were steps which clearly could have been taken to

You know what you really need a warning for with GWTW?  That’s it’s a sixteen hour movie where you’ll hate everyone in it, then want to shoot yourself when the “intermission” screen pops up and you suddenly realize you’re only halfway through.

I mean that’s definitely long been my reading of it! But if that was the intent (and it seems very clear from historical record that was NOT the intent) and they’d succeeded I don’t think we’d be having these conversations now.

Because when we tore down the Berlin Wall, everyone forgot about it....

It’s weird that Warner will put a disclaimer on old Looney Tunes cartoons (which, yeah fuck, they should) but drag their heels on Gone With the Wind.

They should sell two packs of this movie and “The Birth Of A Nation” for campfire kindling.

It is a long-winded boring romance both in movie and book form. The book is disgusting. Mitchell describes various black characters as having ape-like faces uses the word paw to describe hands. It belongs in the trash with the rest of all that Lost Cause rubbish.

TFW you realize you can roll a Gnome with 18 strength and an Orc with 16 intelligence under current rules.

It’s worse. It was put up a while after the Civil War (by the Free Masons).

I’d say the victors of a war have the right to pull down a statue of their defeated enemy. I mean why would you defend a statue of your enemy that you fought against? Oh yeah, because you support slavery.

We have a tradition...volunteers from the community gather at the beaches the day after a major holiday and clean up trash. I’m glad to see DC doing the same in their neighborhoods..

Even in the early 80's, we had people playing "monsters" as PC's. Troll clerics, Lizard Man MU's, a hobgoblin Paladin. If you could come up with a backstory and work with the DM to make sure the character was balanced, anything was fair game. He would then usually write stuff around tour backstory. It made those
