You know what Doug, this might be an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoy your writing. These types of events are disheartening enough as it is. It's nice to have a good laugh to keep from bawling my eyes out.

Most popular theory: government testing of military vessels and oil and gas extractions producing higher frequency sounds, deafening marine mammals and disorienting them so they drown/get stranded/can't find food and starve.
Doug, you've nailed it. As a shark biologist, this is the best/worse time of the year. They have this amazing platform to truly educate people about shark issues, of which there are many and they are all dire, and instead they go for sensational bullshit.
Someone should contact Diplo. That could be his new tagline.
Brenda Song needs to realize that just because she makes jokes about herself to ease some of the pain of stereotypes doesn't mean she has to make excuses for people who make fun of her at her own expense. One is a defense mechanism, the other is disrespectful.
As a science teacher who's had to teach young breezy fangirls, I'm not mad at that tweet. Thanks for your help Chris. Now go back to fucking off.
Crying is one of those things that seem feminine, and therefore bad/weak. I cry all the damn time, and it's pretty cathartic. Crying purges stress hormones from the body, lowers stress, and can elevate moods. Science! I'd much rather have a good cry and be able to move on than to bottle it all up. I say more people,…
He's the Rap Game Lord Byron.
The way I look at it is that you can only look at a body exclusively for so long before you have to move on to personality to continue finding them attractive. If someone is obsessive about food and maintaining their body, I can see how that would get annoying quickly, especially if you like to go out/get drinks/try…

"...despite over 20 years of generosity feels that she still deserves yet even more financial support from Paula Deen."
Us Floridians are breathing a little easier right now.
As an ecologist I'm absolutely delighted that this was your takeaway. I didn't even realize it, but yeah, this guy was actually proving the opposite of his point.
I have no clue what Riff Raff is talking about but man do I love that guy.
Thank you! I'm literally 3 days into treatment (so I'm working up my dosage) but I'm feeling generally positive about it. And it's so great that you have that conversation. My sister is also bipolar and she's hesitant to take her medication because she thinks the disorder makes her seem "edgy." We need to put the…
I totally agree. People should get the credit for their creativity and genius, not a disease. But I'm biased; bipolar disorder is fucking up my shit right now and I really don't want to hear "But Thomas Jefferson had it!"
I read this and thought "Yay!" until I remembered I'm bipolar. Yay for everyone else though!
Thanks for sharing! I didn't know that. I absolutely love the show and that was really the only sticking point I had so I guess I can rest easy now.
I don't agree on the second point (although it's your opinion and is valid based on your experiences, so I'm not going to argue with you about it) but every time Alex says "international drug ring" with a straight face I can't help but feel like they're overselling it a little (a lot).
I'm actually pretty excited about it. It's a younger, more racially diverse panel, so I think it would be an interesting new perspective.
