Great list of tips you've got here! I use my Compaq Laptop for everything, and while it's certainly not the most powerful, it's definitely robust! I've installed and reinstalled different OS' (Windows Vista, 7, XP, Ubuntu 8.04, 9.10, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and even the Chrome OS alpha) and it still is retaining all its

@nitzua: Yea if you could get up more screens with a window or two open that'd be great.

@GuimiAlfaro: Just checked it out - pretty awesome, considering it's on a browser!

@jeffk: Very, very rarely.

@Enginerd: I didn't mean it literally. I'm sure you could find a use for it, but (sadly) most people wouldn't willingly go forward and try to use this technology to it's full extent. (Just like so many other powerful technologies...)

@Tsylord: The google DNS doesn't speed up your internet enough to bother to set it up for your xbox! Of course, that's only if you live in the US...

@Robomaster: Heh, just realized that TeknoFTW seems to be using Microsoft Security Essentials.

Cool desktop, but a little too minimalistic for my tastes. Just my 2 cents.

@nka: Yep, "As Lee Mathews over at Download Squad discovered, **the most recent Chrome dev builds** come with a command line switch (—purge-memory-button) that, when run with Chrome at startup, adds a Purge memory button to Chrome's task manager."

Talk about cool-yet-useless.

@danielkza: Cool, this skin seems actually worthwhile, unlike the default...Thanks for the share!

Interesting app - I'm one of those "plan way ahead" people so this isn't really helpful to me, but still - cool.

@jeremytownsend: I would use method 2. Using the internet in a virtual OS is a pain in the neck and even when you get it to work, it'll go really slow.

@jonny6pak: I've never heard truer words. Chrome OS certainly won't kill off Windows 7 in the first month or even year of release, but I see a huge amount of potential in this new idea that Windows just ain't have.

Excellent article. I used method 2 and it worked in a snap. Chrome OS looks excellent and is extremely fast even when booted from a thumb drive.

@jinushaun: Do you realize that Adobe owns nearly 99% of all flash decoders? Don't you think that's a slight security risk? What if Adobe suddenly decides to use the amount of storage allowed for flash to drop a virus on your computer?

@That One Guy: My thoughts exactly. TV shows and bittorent just don't make a good pair together...

@DiscoZombie: So true - I don't get why MS doesn't just completely trash IE6 and force it to update itself to IE8.

@warped2049: Meh, the Lifehacker people seem to be nice about that sorta thing. *They'd better be* ;-)
