The 20.000€ one had the same ugly silver hard plastic "accent" through the dash as the 35.000€ one. Both interiors were too cheap for the Price Tag.

May I correct that, I have the same 1.0 mhd 52kw/71hp three cylinder without a turbo, which is also available in the US.
The US smart is also exactly the same size as the Europe one.
So 59 mpgs should be possible with us versions, too. I think my smart could get better mileage, when driven savery and/or longer trips…
