And you know it’s a negative because no one makes the punchline “you go through men faster than Leonardo DiCaprio goes through the newest models”.

Phoebe Bridgers looks like Tatiana Maslany and Brie Larson had a daughter.

This is a really harsh review! Obviously with SNL there are always jokes or sketches that fall flat, but I haven’t laughed this much watching a new episode in a while.

I don’t know if I agree with the author that “cancel culture” is unambiguously good—it’s a lot more reactionary and vitriolic than just “facing consequences”--but the way the show tackled it was just stupid.

The re-interpretation of Woody’s entire filmography as being about wish fulfillment of an older man dating hot younger women is framed by the allegations against him. And it’s frankly wrong.

In Manhattan that’s the point, the relationship doesn’t work because he is so aware of the age difference and ultimately ends up

Whether Allen is guilty or not I truly don’t know, but the phrase “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” is fucking idiotic and has destroyed many innocent lives.

I don’t know about the veracity of the IRL claims against Allen, but in Manhattan Mariel Hemingway’s character was 17, which is the legal age of consent in New York.

I wary about docu-series like these because the involvement of one side of the case also leaves the door open for the favored side argument against the merits of the presentation (I guess I would prefer something that relies on archival footage).

Oh, yeah, someone writing a film about a guy dating a 17 year old girl means it’s undeniable said writer sexually abused his 6 year daughter. Sure.

ugh, here goes nothing, not looking to anger you or anyone else, or be insulted, I’ll try to do this in a polite, appropriate way:
They didn’t really say anything racist, did they? “Incredibly”? I mean, they’re literally speaking about artistic value at the intersection of viewing projects through a lens SOLELY on SJ

Hell yeah baby, awards complaint season is here. Nature is healing.

minari was decent but nothing special IMO

I’m completely open to the fact that my opinion of some of AVClub’s critics might be off-base. I can certainly see why people might be offended by my post or at least disagree with it. But if my post is so terrible on its own, why do you have to make up a whole new block of text I didn’t write?

Ah yes, the AVClub comment section:  Only there for opinions you asked for!

OK, I’m gonna get roasted for this, but here goes.

I remember finding the film almost surreal as a kid — but I wonder now if the dialog just wasn’t exceptionally mature.

I agree. Where is the film that is as all-encompassing as love itself” that Shannon Miller described in her review of the trailer? This sounds like watching Lenny Bruce read trial transcripts.

Let me know when they get back to actual plots. I found the first special episode overly pretentious and uninteresting, despite the good performances. As subtle as a sledgehammer. Sounds like this one is more of the same.

Yes, his

Unlike most of the internet, she’s extremely gifted in several ways.
