How many examples of people who have actually achieved something who are either pro-cancel culture, or at least don’t think it’s that big a deal? Or is it just AVClub/Gawker exiles and Huffington Post-type writers?
A sequel to Atomic Blonde is also apparently in development.
As a Yankee fan, it pains me to say it, but...their song is better.
The AV Club writers could give it a run for its money. At least Bill Maher can afford to buy into the Mets.
As always, the message is simple: if you’re a white man, start creating shows that aren’t just for white men, then quit immediately since you shouldn’t be writing for those shows.
Yours is better.
Probably because he was black.
“Still, since this just two more straight cis white men trying to make A Statement about the pandemic that’s disproportionately affected Brown and Black bodies, it’s best to greet this news with the shrug it merits.”
One day, someone needs to explain to me how to reconcile the growing societal emphasis on women’s agency with this insanely regressive need to identify every woman as a victim whenever possible.
I think the first part of what you said is reasonable, his behavior in the workplace of The Deuce was investigated--at a moment when, I’d imagine, any fraction of an indiscretion would’ve gotten him kicked off--and they didn’t find anything, which is why he was allowed to stay on the show. What he’s even accused…
Alright, he may not have been qualified to do a job that was literally invented several years ago on the show he was starring on. By that standard, virtually no one who staged sex scenes before the past 3 years shouldn’t be working today.
Legal age, she initiated the contact with him. Unsavory? Maybe, it’s pretty young. But again, let’s take the hand-wringing on consensual sex (which I don’t think they even had) down a notch.
This is why “sexual misconduct” as a catch-all phrase is essentially meaningless. I’d dare anyone to succinctly describe James Franco’s “behavior” in a way that makes the case for why his career should end.
Especially when, frankly, it’s members of other historically marginalized groups. Progressives love their narratives, and that just wouldn’t compute.
None of the people you cited, for what it’s worth, faced any long-term consequences.
but no need to bring up his subsequent memo to his employees that they’ll totally be fired if they show up high to work
RIP Tawny Kitaen
Fair point. He’s done the research.
Feel like Michael Fassbender should’ve played Tommy Lee. Some things just shouldn’t be faked.
