At this point, so many different people have come down on this side that to reduce it to just a few people who want to keep making offensive jokes is dishonest.

Eventually, it gets hard not to notice that pretty much everyone who has actually accomplished something is on one side of these kinds of arguments (anti cancel culture, hysterical wokeness is embarrassing and counterproductive) while the other side is, well, the kind of people who write for the AV Club, Jezebel, etc.
So “John Cleese hopes trans people are happy and that people could treat them kindly” could have also been the headline. And yet.
Appreciate you commenting on here. I’m curious - while you obviously don’t represent an entire community, is there anything you’d consider a satisfactory “reaching out” to the autistic community short of casting an autistic actor for this part?
Then she would be lambasted for not “listening” to the criticism, and she would be asked about it in every interview. I’m not saying this approach is necessarily better, but ultimately it seemed like it was going to result in mostly the same thing.
Exactly. If everyone put in this situation handles it badly, then what is handling it well beyond groveling for an apology and doing what the mob is asking for?
